First Full Weekend

Well, it seems as though most of my updates from now on will be coming to you from late at night like this. Oh well, that’s life, eh?

So what’s Chris been up to on his first full weekend of living in good old So Cal? Well not much to really tell you the truth. I’ve spent the majority of the weekend in front of the TV. Ty and his bf seemed to have had a bit of a tiff this weekend so they weren’t really doing much of anything. Anyways, I did go out for a drive on Saturday. I went to the mall which is just up the street and it’s a bit ghetto, a lot like the Ames mall, only different shops in it. And at least it’s 2 stories… Though the second story is only the food court. Then I got lost trying to find Vons and Wal-Mart, but I eventually found them. They were on the OTHER side of the 73 then where I was looking. Damn interstates. I also bought like $30 worth of food for me. Good times. 🙂

I’ve also spent lots of time talking to Andrew this weekend, which was nice. I would have liked to talk to him a bit more, especially today because I had a lot to tell him tonight, but he had fallen asleep apparently and called me back about midnight Iowa time just to say goodnight. Hopefully we’ll get to talk tomorrow and I can tell him all about everything, that is if I remember it all.

OH, one thing that I wanted to write about though…. I think the roomie and his bf had sex today while I was there… I was watching TV on the couch, and they both went into the bedroom… And like shortly after that I feel asleep. The next thing I know I hear the shower going and they are both in there, this was like an hour or more after they disappeared into the bedroom. Then after the shower Ty comes out and he was like… ‘Did you hear anything.’ And I was like, I was asleep. But I think they had sex… It’s scary!

Umm other then that, the roomie and I had a great time last night. We sat around talking about porn and sex, and then we watched some porn. It was really funny. I’ve also been loving the fact that Talk Sex (previously Sunday night Sex show) is on early out here, so I can actually watch it. I love that show!

Today was fathers day, and I called my dad like a good little son. It was very wierd the whole time talking to him, though I was amazed that we could find enough to talk about to fill a full 15 minutes. There was lots of wierd silence and stuff, but we still talked about a lot of things. I think it’s a good thing because it shows that our relationship is finally starting to grow better. Like 2 or 3 years ago, we wouldn’t have been able to say anything except, ‘Happy fathers day”….”Thanks”….”Talk to you later”…”Bye”

But now we can actually talk about things. I hope that we continue to talk more. I’d also really like to talk to my Grandpa more as well, I know that he’s not going to be around much longer and he’s such a great person to talk to, and I have so many great memories of him. I just wish that I had more. I also wish that my grandma and that side of the family would talk more about our family history. It’s very annoying now knowing ANYTHING about where our roots are at. As I’ve talked about before I’m very jeleous of Andrew because of his heritage, not that they follow it strictly, but at least they have something and they still have a few traditions that they do. Whereas my family has nothing. My moms side is almost ALL german, but we don’t have any german traditions……

Well, alright doing a quick search returns this And reading through it, I really do have a lot of German qualities, that is if this is real at all. I found this part to be particularly true:

Real Germans are perpetual bargain hunters. As soon as they buy anything they are slightly unhappy, because somewhere else that has inevitably escaped their attention, there was some place that had a better quality and it was cheaper!

lol. It’s so true!

Anyways, getting back to what started this, I’d really like to talk to my grandpa more and just hang out. I wish he were still able to do the things we used to do, like go shooting or fishing, or even just driving with him in his biig old pick up truck. I wish he still had that beast. I also wish that I had had a chance to go and visit them for a week this summer, like I have in the past. I always really enjoy going down there for that week. And while I was growing up they were such a HUGE part of my summer. Sometimes spending more then half of my summer at thier house.

Changing topics. I really hate working here alone, about midnight the doors to the elevator shaft automatically swing shut. And they are HUGE fire doors so when they SWING shut, they do so with a great force which is very loud and I can hear it even in my office. So far it’s scared me every morning and I always get up to go look to see what it is. I really hate it. Then about 2AM, the security guard comes up and goes through the doors and when they swing shut behind him they hit again and scare me again. Very annoying.

Ok, one more thing that I want to complain about here at work then I’m all done for now…. Friday morning I went through and cleaned out the inbox of the IChelp desk account and moved everything to categories for each call, which is supposed to be done as soon as you take a call so that way it’s easier to find things, but no one seems to ever do it. So I’ve just been cleaning ALL the calls they get during the day when I get here in the morning. Which isn’t that big of a deal because I have nothing else to do, so at least that takes about 30 minutes of my time to do….

Well anyways, I went through and read all of the e-mails and left the ones that Mike needed to read as unread, there were only 23 e-mails that he had to read, and that’s ALL he had to do to them, was read them. Well I come in this morning and he didn’t read a SINGLE one of them on Friday. He was here from 7am to 7pm, and ALL of those e-mails were still marked as unread. Which is very annoying because it’s not like he had to read them and then do something that took hours to do to complete them, they were all just informational, so all he had to do was read them… IE, open them. Grr. It’s just fairly annoying.

Well, I should probably go do something else. Laters all.

I Done It!

Well Graduation passed and here I am, still working away without a job. 🙁

The weekend was good, though I was a bit saddened by a few things and surprised by a few things.

First the things I was saddedn/annoyed about (In no real order):
1. Melinda and Rob didn’t come. Adam did, which was nice to see him again, but I was hoping to see Melinda and Rob as well.
2. Frank and Kaye didn’t come either. I was really annoyed by this, because they were such a huge part of my life in HS I thought they would at least send a card or something. But I didn’t even get that. I was really upset by them not coming.
3. Fagen’s didn’t come either. I wasn’t really disappointed by this, but it was still annoying that they didn’t come.
4. My Grandma Sibbel’s gift. Now, I wasn’t expecting much from anyone. I really wasn’t. But when you’re the first person on that side of the family to get a 4 year college degree you’d think she would treat it a little more. She was only one of 3 people to give me $20. And the other two I wasn’t anything from. Grrr.
5. No one from my Yucatan class came.

Things I was surprised by:
1. Adam coming. I was surprised that he actually came, it was good to see him. He said we should hang out this summer and I think it’ll be fun to hang out a little.
2. My PU’s present. I was expecting more, but figured it would be much less. I was pleasently surprised by what I actually got. Now I have to decide what to do with it. Which I’ll get into later
3. Steven came. I was REALLY surprised by the fact that he made the trip (IE, drove himself and his girl) just for my gradutation. And that was after she had to work from 5:30 – 1. So I thought it was really nice of him. In the thank you note to him I told him we should hang out this summer and have a drink. Gave him my number too. Perhaps we can get him drunk 😉
4. My G&G’s present. Way more then I thought. It was nice! 🙂
5. The nice weather.

Overall everything was good and I was happy with the graduation. It feels good to be done, yet really stressful to be done too. I’m sure that come fall I’ll be wanting to go back to school.

Now, about my PU’s gift… The total comes out to be about $4,000… About $2,000 in savings bonds that people have given me over the years, and about $2,000 in cash. They said they were going to buy me a laptop computer with that cash, but since they didn’t know what I would want, that they just gave it to me. So now I’m caught in the middle, or should I save it. Right now AIT is having a sale on Mac Powerbooks, they’re $1,999 for:
15.2-inch TFT Display
1280×854 resolution
1.5GHz PowerPC G4
512K L2 cache
512MB DDR333 SDRAM
80GB Ultra ATA/100
ATI Mobility Radeon
9700 (64MB DDR)
Backlit keyboard
Gigabit Ethernet
FireWire 400 & 800
AirPort Extreme built-in
DVI & S-Video out

Which normally retails for $2,800. So I’m really tempted to buy it. I’m also tempted because that would mean I can sell my other three computers/monitor/KVM/network hub and all that other shit and potentially make about $600 from the sale of all of that stuff AND best of all, I’d have a TON more room in my car for when I move. I’m just really torn as to if I should spend the money or not. If I had a job, I wouldn’t have any problem buying this laptop. I’m also scared because I have a feeling that Apple’s going to announce the G5’s Powerbooks at WWDC this year, but even if that happens the earliest they’d come out would be August. If not much later. I mean it took them like 4 or 5 months between the time they announced the G5 Xserves and the date they actually shipped the damn things.

::whines:: I just don’t know what to do!

Anyways. That’s been my weekend….

Oh, I also register trained at Old Navy this weekend. That was hellish. The people that work there are SO STUPID! Gah. It was very funny though because I kept asking all these questions to the girl doing the training. Questions I obviously knew the answer to already. lol By the end of it she was catching on and started answering them before I got to ask them! roflol.

Anyways, I must break to get back to work.

Laters all.

A Day In New York

Well yesterday was very fun. We spent the day in New York City. So much excitement there.

Though it really wasn’t at all what I was expecting. WE got up about 8 and got ready and drove into the city with Sue and John, got there about 10ish and went to Sue’s office. That was fairly interesting. After that we walked out of the office and towards Central Park. Sue showed us where to go and we headed into the park. That was really cool. I was very amazed at how there could be such a huge park in the middle of such a big city!

I was also very amazed at how many people there were in the park running and such. Very interesting. We headed towards the Central Park Zoo and had a good time there it wasn’t as big as I thought it would be, but it had all the major animals that make a zoo, so I guess it counts. So that was fun.

After the zoo we headed back into the park and found this REALLY cool area, where we both declared it would be a great place to hold a wedding. It was so pretty! We sat there and had a hot dog and pop. After that we headed back towards Central Park West and 77th to the Museum of Natural History. We got there and the line was REALLY long. So we stood in it and there was this Indian woman that kept staring at us. Very annoying. We finally got through the line, it cost me only $9 to get in, so that wasn’t too bad.. $3 less then normal admission.

We got in there and walked around forever! It was really really cool, but again, I wasn’t in the mood to sit and read everything. Museums that big need to be a two or three day thing. I really do think so. Again, it was a really cool museum, but about half way through my feet really stated to hurt, so I sat down for a bit. After that they felt better, but we just breezed through the rest of the place. Good times though.

Headed out of there about 3:30 and towards 5th (back through the park again) and then took 5th from 77th down to about 42nd. We stopped in all the crazy expensive shops. It’s so insane that in some of them it’s like $200 or $300 for a fucking t-shirt. Very annoying. And some of the suits were like $1800, and all they were were plain black two button suits. Crazyness. And of course everyone in the stores was UBER bitchy. It’s like, HELLO, why would anyone shop here, people are far too bitchy.

Kept walking and we ran into these people that we’re like, What are you guys following us it was very weird because we had no idea who they were and they were just like randomly talking too us. They claimed to have seen us in the museum and the zoo, then again where we were. Very scary. We crossed the street to avoid them.

The Gap store was closed, the only store that we could afford and it was closed, How sad is that! Grrr.

Anyways, kept walking to 42nd and then took that down to 7th, where times square is. That was really cool to see, I took a panoramic picture of it and hopefully it’ll turn out well.

We shopped a bit more after that, and then headed down 7th where there was this HUGE street fair. Very cool times. We were a bit pressed for time by then, so we didn’t hang out there too much. After that we kinda headed over to 8th and walked down it a bit, Found more porn stores in like a 2 block area then we have in all of Iowa. Very insane! But since we didn’t have time we didn’t go into any of them, very sad!

Once we found 33rd street we looked for the train station, because it was about 6:30 by then. Found what I thought was it, but since it didn’t say Penn Station on it, we didn’t know if that was right, so we walked across the street to Macy’s and asked. It was indeed Penn Station, so we walked down there and couldn’t figure out the trains, so we had to ask this crazy woman. She was very helpful though and we figured it all out.

The little display that had the info on it as to where our train was coming it at (Tracks 1-12, but who knew which track it would be on) didn’t have the track number on it, at about 6:50 it FINALLY got the number on it and everyone that was standing around stated RUNNING like mad men to the train. So Andrew and I were like, we better run too. So we ran through all the people and got to the door for track 12, and found out that all those people were actually running to somewhere else (I’m guessing track 13-21 since they were in the same area). So we got on the train and just picked the first door that we came too, went in and sat down.

My god was that a BAD idea. It was so fucking hot in there, and since we had never been on these trains before we had no idea if it was supposed to have been that hot or not. So we sat there for a while and everyone that came in was like, OMG, it’s HOT

Eventually someone said that it was cooler in the other cars, so we went and sat in the one behind us.

It was very scary sitting on that train though tell it left the station because we had no idea if we were actually on the right train or not. But once the train stated moving they said that it was going to the place that we needed to go to. So that’s good.

The train ride was all right. I tried to sleep, but really couldn’t.

Got home and it was late, we laid around in bed for a bit, then went down and got cheesecake, then came back upstairs and Andrew gave me a message. That was VERY nice 😉

Today we didn’t get out of bed tell like 11, and haven’t done much since. His grandma came over and she was funny. But she didn’t stay long.

Anyways, I’m out, Laters all!

Andrew’s Gone

So Andrew’s gone on a Cruise, by now they should be well on thier way to the first stop.

Friday was such a long day, work was totally annoying, but I finally was off at 5, and I met up with Andrew at VWM at 5:30. We shopped for a while, and then spent the rest of the night doing random things. I don’t remember what all we did though. It was however a very long night.

Saturday I was up early and out the door by 9:30. I went to Hy-Vee 74th to get some things, then to Vista to drop them off. After that it was off to Beak’s to hang out and “fix” her computer. When I got there, she said there wasn’t really anything wrong with it now. But I still played around with it some and fixed a few random things. We chatted about things, and her mom showed up, and we unloaded more of Beak’s shit. lol. I always get stuck doing that!

Andrew called about 12:30 and I went over there. Hung out while he packed for the cruise. I helped him pick out ties. I also played FF10. Which is UBER fun!

From there it was off to random grad parties. I never thought that _I_ would run into someone I HATE at a Waukee Grad party, but I did. How random is that! Well, actually I never thought that I’d be going to Waukee grad parties. I thought once I was done with my own damn school’s I would be done done with all of them! lol.

AFter that we went to Andrew’s office to meet some woman, I forget her name now, but she was way amusing. lol. Then off to Biaggi’s. Which has REALLY REALLY good food. And it’s amazingly not that expensive. Although, Andrew wouldn’t let me see the bill! lol.

While there we talked about heritage, and how my family doesn’t really have one that they talk of. We know that my mom’s side is mostly German (My Grandma is English/French/Irish) but we have no idea what my dad’s side is. And we don’t make traditional German foods. I mean my Dad’s side has all these “secret” family recipies, but they aren’t from our traditional family history. I hope that all makes sense. Anyways, the point is that I feel like my family should have traditional foods, like Andrew’s family has Italian foods.

After that it was back to my place where we exchanged gifts. He got me Kevin, a pair of scissors, and The Awakening. I got him Oswald….

So that he could take him with him on the trip and remember me!

Anyways, after that we just laid in my bed talking. I started to cry because he was leaving for a week. I told him I’d probably cry when he moved away to Cali, but I never thought I would cry so soon. Especially since he’s just going to be gone for a week!

I felt really stupid though for crying. Whatever. Mostly because there’s only two things that I can think of that make me cry infront of other people. One being having to talk about Boy Scouts, the other is a death of a friend/relative/etc.

About 8:30 we left here and were going to drop him off at Court’s at 9, but his mother called and wanted to say goodbye, so we went there and did that. Got him to Court’s by about 9:15ish. We were all talking in the house and I fianlly just had to leave, other wise I would have started crying right there again and I would have felt UBER stupid!

So Andrew and I went outside, and hugged good bye, and I did start crying. It was so sad. And AGAIN I felt stupid for doing as such, but I’m going to miss him while he’s gone!

I left there by about 9:45 and was home shortly after 10… From the time I got home untell about 3 this morning I spent cleaning my room and going though stuff that I had packed way back in ’99 and ’00. I got rid of 2 BIG boxes worth of stuff and now have everything I want to keep in just two other boxes.

Today has consisted of…
1) Kevin
2) Good Eats
3) Sitting around and feeling stupid
4) Peeling wallpaper

Tomorrow will consist of lots of family, just what I don’t need!
