So today I am working a very very long day. I only have about an hour left, so that’s good. I took a large chunk out of the middle of the day to drive to San Diego and back to check out a 1952 truck. The truck was VERY nice… But there were a few concerns:

1) he says it sat for about 40 years, but they aren’t sure if anything was done to the truck after that, rebuilt engine, etc. The truck sounds good, and rides good, but who knows about the gaskets, etc. I would think after that long they’d have to do something to get it running? (the odometer has 35,000 miles on it, but he’s not sure if it’s rolled over)

2) Between the header and the exhaust pipe you can feel hot air coming out. Probably just a missing gasket. There’s been an electric fan installed, but I think it was put in backwards.

3) Lots of little rubs/etc in the bed paint. You can tell that things had just been thrown in and out of there. But the truck is solid steel.

4) A few little bubble areas in the paint. Not sure if this is rust or what’s going on with it. But overall the paint job looks great! I couldn’t find any over spray or anything.

5) The wiring job for the new radio is pretty messy.

I posted to the Ford Truck Enthusiasts Site for help.

[private]Now, not to bad mouth these guys. Because they are giving me some GREAT info and tons of help and I don’t want to burn bridges this early, but there’s one person who posted something about being able to browse up a level to my other photos and there being “way to much information” there. Well I’m sorry that I didn’t know how to post images to the forum when I first did the post and that now that I _do_ know how I can’t go back and edit the post. Besides, they are the ones who click the “parent directory link” and then go through and look at those pics. I’m not forcing them to view anything. (I have however created an index page so that the directory listing can no longer be viewed). But overall they have been a HUGE help. Especially the guy with the 1951 Ford Panel truck and they have made me even more excited to get a truck![/private]

I had a meeting at 2 back in Irvine and didn’t get out of San Diego till 1 (it’s an 80 mile drive). The guy was just talking to much and I was enjoying chatting with him (old guys are so cool!). We were talking about trucks and raising kids and what not. Anyways, I drove about 85mph all the way back to Irvine. Got here at 2:10, only to find out that my meeting had been canceled at the last minute and moved to tomorrow from 12-4. Which means I’m working 4am-4pm again tomorrow! I’ll have to figure out a way to just do the meeting from home.

The other day I was able to get some time to watch This film is not yet rated.. GREAT movie if you haven’t seen it. I really think that the whole rating system should be open and more pubilc. Having a small group of people decide what is and is not allowed, and having people who have been on the board for so long is just not the right way to do it. Perhaps we should make these people run for office as well! hahah. Yeah right, that’d be a huge mess! But there def should be some way to control who is on there and for how long.

Also, on the long ass drive back from San Diego, I was listening to Dr Laura. You all know how much I love her! Anyways, this caller calls in because her husband has a “porn and masturbation” addiction. Really? Are you fucking kidding me. Dr Laura ultimately suggested that she DIVORCE the guy because his masturbation means that he’s unable to have a relationship with a real person! WHAT?! Are you fucking kidding me? Ok, first off. Was the wife even having sex with the husband or was she using sex as a tool to get what she wants? That would have been my first guess. Now if they WERE having sex and what not. Then maybe the wife needed to talk to him to find out WHY he’s jacking off and watching porn. Is she not doing what he’d like, does he have a fantasy he’d like fulfilled? Do they always do it missionary style and on Friday night?

I really don’t think you can be ADDICTED to porn. It’s a god damn movie! There’s no substance there altering your mind. I think that a guy should be able to watch porn and jack off whenever he damn well pleases, especially if the wife isn’t satisfying his sexual drive. Now if the guy has been going out and cheating, that’s a whole nother story. But PORN is not cheating! Perhaps the wife should watch with.

UGH, what is wrong with this country?

Asshole online people!

Oh My god.. I just ran into one of the biggest assholes online ever!

So I get a message from this guy on hotornot.com asking if I have MSN. I message him back and give him my SN.

Well today he messages me on there, we chat for about 2 seconds. Total. First off the whole time he gives one word answers. .. What do you do? … “Chemical plant”. What the fuck does that mean?

Anyways, so then I go to ask him where he lives… And this is what happens….

3:39:15 PM me: Cool, so where are you located?

3:39:27 PM mattmci: edmonton ab

3:39:29 PM mattmci: u>?

3:39:43 PM me: where’s that?

3:39:48 PM me: I’m in Newport Beach, CA

3:40:03 PM mattmci: canada

3:40:16 PM mattmci: wheres ca?

3:40:19 PM me: california

3:40:26 PM mattmci: wheres that

3:40:42 PM me: are you serious?

3:40:50 PM mattmci: u dont know where ab is

3:41:10 PM mattmci: yet u expect me to know all yur states

3:41:15 PM mattmci: fucking americans

Changed status to Offline (3:41:30 PM)

3:41:30 PM mattmci: Matt has removed you from his or her buddy list.

Ok, seriously. Anyone read that and automatically think AB = Canada? Around here, AB = Airforce Base. Not fucking Canada. And then seriously. Even if you are from Canada, who doesn’t know where California is? It’s only the home of 8 million TV shows, movies and recording artists. And I mean hello the GDP of Alberta is only $215 billion, where as the GRP of California is $1.5 trillion (2004 numbers for both). I can totally understand people not knowing here Iowa is, but California?!

So I emailed him back on hotornot…. Let’s hope he replies!

America’s Healthcare!

Oh my. It’s been a busy weekend for a boy is who broken!

So Friday I went into the office and worked. No surprises there! I got a lot of stuff done, but still feel like I have way to much to get caught up on. I must start learning our new product and learn it fast.

After work I went out with Dustin. We ate at The Veggie Grill again and then went and saw Sicko. Such a good film. I think it’s the best Michael Moore film so far! I was crying at the end of it and just sooo pissed off. After the movie we were talking to one of Dustin’s friends about it and he mentioned starting like a credit union for healthcare. That’d be a pretty cool idea! I wonder what it would take to do? I just can’t believe that healthcare is so bad here in the US. It made me want to move to the EU even more. JT? When I can I move?

We also had ice cream and saw some really gay Irvine boys. What a mess.

Came home after that and talked to Constantine for a short while. We made plans to hang out Saturday.

So Saturday I get up and head up to Santa Monica to meet him. I was just going to park my car at the office up there and then we were going to go to The Huntington. Well I got to the office and went to park… “Card not found”! WTF! The bastards canceled my parking card! πŸ™ So now I can’t go up there at all! I wonder if I can still get into the office itself.

Anyways, so we went to the Huntington and had a great time. Lots of pretty flowers and what not. But it was ungodly hot and sweaty. After that we came back to my place and showered (separately) and then hung out here and talked and watched movies. We saw this one called Fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain, Le. It was a very good movie. Although a little crazy and it had subtitles which we all know I hate! Apparently he says it’s famous? So if you haven’t seen it, go watch it!

Some random Asian guys came over about 8:30 and bought my camera off me. So Constantine and I went out to HTGrill to celebrate. Yay for getting money! πŸ™‚

He left here about midnight and I went to bed. Got up Sunday at 8, laid down on the couch and then woke up again at noon! What’s wrong with me!!?

Sunday evening Dan came over and we hung out. We went to Good Stuff and then watched Romancing the Stone. I didn’t really like that movie very much.

Also, it took me three years, but my bed is NO LONGER sitting on the floor! How exciting is that!

I’ve also booked a camp site at San Simeon State Park for July 27-29. Let me know if you want to go. One of the days we will be going to Hearst Castle. Should be tons of fun. And the more people we get to go the better!!

I also found this hilarious convo on bash.org. Oh you crazy religious people!

And lastly, check out this amazing coordinated dance thing:

If only marching band were more like that! πŸ™‚

Of course pictures from the weekend can be found on the photodump. Hopefully I will soon be adding more once Constantine get’s me his from his professional camera! Also, be sure to check out the other new galleries. Which include pictures of my ass, and the trucks I looked at.

A painful 4th…

Ok. Well an update about the accident. I’m fine. Yes, I’ve been in TONS of pain. But it could have been a lot worse.

Tuesday night, I hung out with Mok for the evening we watched movies (Avaliable Men) and talked about our injuries. Getting into bed that night was very interesting. It took about 10 minutes just to lay down and get my legs up into bed. It hurt so much to try and move my hip/knee at all, so I basically had to sit in bed and then pull my leg up into bed and then slowly inch it over so that I was in bed. Of course, I also couldn’t sleep on my side like normal so it was a very interesting night. I took all my pillows in the house and made a nice little wall around me so I couldn’t move.

The next day I was able to walk at least, but with lots of pain. I got up about 9 and laid around my house for awhile. Did a little cleaning and even managed to make it to Target for shopping. The whole time though I was leaning on my cart for support. I went there because the cats were completely out of cat food and litter. I had to get a store employee to help me lift them into my cart! lol. God I felt so old! I got home and had to then unload them by myself. Boy was that ever painful!

Constantine came over about 2:30 and we went out to see a Evan Almighty. These two old ladies sat down next to us and then smelled of smoke soo bad. It was really gross. But the movie was great. The funny part was that this old lady was actually faster at getting down the stairs then I was at the end! And she had a cane! lol.

We went back to my place after that and just hung out there talking and what not. I felt really bad because I had promised him hiking and then going to the pier for a concert and then fireworks. But we couldn’t do any of that stuff! I’ll have to make it up to him soon. We did make it to the beach for fireworks. So that was good.

He left about 11 and I went to bed with the full intention of going to work the next morning. Well I woke up at 5 and basically couldn’t move my left leg at all. I laid in bed trying to get up for about 30 minutes. Eventually made it to the computer and sent the boss an email saying I wouldn’t be in. I laid on the couch and started working. By about 10 or so I was able to get up and walk around at least, so that was good.

Last night Mok came over again and we finished the movies from Tuesday night. This one was called 29th & Gay. Very strange movie.

This morning I am feeling a million times better. I’m able to get up and move around and the bruising is mostly gone. It still hurts to move my leg in certain ways and after sitting for a while it’s painful to stand up. I still can’t put any weight on my left arm either.

I just can’t wait to get back out there on the road!

A LONG Weekend!

Oh my god… This weekend, I DROVE… All over hell. Over 450 miles this weekend alone. What craziness.

So Friday, I got home from work and headed up to Santa Monica to hang out with this guy Dan. Who had an amazing DVD/CD collection. I went through all his DVD’s and that took about an hour. We ended up watching Vacation. I had a good time. I went home after that and went to bed.

Got up Saturday morning and went and washed my car. I’ve got this Astroturf in my bathroom under the cat litter. It’s been a while since I last cleaned it good, so I took it to the car wash with me and spent like 2 whole minutes trying to wash it out completely. I thought I got it pretty clean and then just threw it in my trunk and drove home. Took it out as soon as I got there and found out that there was a LOT more water left in it then I thought, so there was a ton of NASTY smelling water all over my trunk! I tried to clean it all up but my car smells SOOO bad now! πŸ™ I took out all the carpeting and shit from the trunk Sunday night so that helped some.

After that disaster, I headed out on my road trip to check out some nice wonderful trucks…

The first one was a 1956 F250. It’s a good body and good looking truck, but needs a lot of interior work done to it. New handles, new carpet, work to the dash, needs a new bed, etc. Lots of over spray from a previous paint job that hadn’t been corrected. It also had a LOT of oil on the transmission, etc. Not sure how normal that is, but it was a little concerning. The guy selling it was HOT and I thought I was getting a little gay vibe from him. But probably not. I got a lot of great information out of him and I think no matter what truck I buy, he could be a good resource for the future.

Second was a 1954 Ford F100. Great looking truck. The guy said he hadn’t driven it in a year though. It had leaked basically all it’s transmission fluid, we got in and it started right up. Took it out on a test drive… We’re driving down the street and this truck pulls out in front of us. Slam on the breaks and they go straight to the floor.. THERE’S NO BRAKES! OMG! Grab the emergency break to stop it… SCARY! The truck has no rust, and it’s nice and complete truck. All new interior, etc. One issue is that the guy said the previous owners rebuilt the engine and then it sat for 6 years. So he’s not sure how many miles, are on the engine and since it sat so long the seals, etc could be a bit dry/etc. He said he’d take $1k off the price to get the brakes fixed (Probably just need to be bleed out)

The third was the same guy, it was a Studebaker. Nice looking yellow truck, but needs more work then I’d be willing to put into it.

The fourth was a 1956 F100. This one was a real POS. Needs TONS of work. I took one look at it and said no thanks! What a mess.

The last one is the best and of course the most expensive! A 1955 F100. Everything is all new, GREAT paint job (although not an original color which is a little annoying), great new interior (and also the only one with seat belts) and drove great. The only concern I had was that the steering was a little lose. He said it probably just needed to be adjusted. He’d already come down from $18k, so I’m not sure there’s much wiggle room for price.

Saturday night I stayed home and watched Can’t Hardly Wait. Very interesting movie with lots of hot boys!

Sunday I got up early and headed up to Hollywood to meet up with Ran and Enver. We went out on a short little 15 mile ride. It was really good to see them again since the Lifecycle ride. They’re very great people. The ride was very pretty. We went up into the valley and around Griffith park and WB studios.

Came home and showered real quick and then the neighbor and I headed up to Port Hueneme, CA. It was a great little town. The neighbor is looking at buying a house/condo up there so we looked at a few of those. I went up with her to check out one more truck this weekend. A 1956 F100 Panel Truck. This was by far one of the most interesting trucks I saw this weekend. The guy who owns it sounded like a real ass on the phone, but ended up being pretty nice. The engine is pretty much unknown to him, but it was his daily driver for many years so it’s probably about ready for a rebuild/etc. It would also need a lot of interior work. New side wall coverings, etc. It’s a VERY interesting truck though which is nice. And the guy is apparently desperate for cash. He was willing to take $3k off the price right there.

We headed up to Ventura after that and ate at this random place called “I Love Sushi”. And boy, do I love the sushi there. I highly suggest getting the “In & Out Roll” very good! So if you’re ever in Ventura, Ca. I highly suggest you go there.

Got home about 8, had just enough time to read my emails from the day and then went to bed. It was another morning of getting up at 3:30am and dealing with stupid people at the HD!

On the way into the office, I heard this song on the radio called “Dear Mr. President” by Pink. Apparently it was released forever ago. But I’ve never heard it before and if you haven’t. I suggest going and checking it out.

I also found this very interesting Wold Clock on digg the other day. This clock has stats collected from all over the world, showing population, prison growth, births, US illegal immigrations, divorces, species extinct, forests lost, barrels of oil, and LOADS more, including in depth death stats. Highly interesting.

Adios!
