Waiting On Hold…

So here I am at work waiting on hold, so I thought that I’d put in a quick update about the weekend while I have some time…

This has been an UBER UBER fun weekend and my abs hurt because of it.

Friday I worked all day and then went to B&N to wait up for Andrew. I read more of Kevin’s book… SOO good. Even if you’re not into computers, I still suggest you read it. Very eye opening about how much information you can get with so little time.

Anyways, met up with Andrew about 8ish, from there we went to Panera and had supper. It was really good, I do believe that I shall be going back there more often now. We sat there and talked for like an hour or so, and then went off to Downtown. Normal JJ’s stuff, talked to Josh, who didn’t know who I was. Talked about camping and Bortell’s. Very interesting.

Since we were both looking UBER fucking hot we decied to go and walk around, so we went to Nolan Plaza and hung out there, then just went and walked around some more. It was good times. Eventually had to go home, so we were walking past JJ’s and happened to see Adam, Scott, and crew. One on level it was good to _see_ Adam again, but it was still wierd seeing him around. Scott gave dirty looks, I smiled polietly and waved and we kept on walking.

Saturday I got up early and went and got my hair cut, then to Hy-VEe where it was BAD fucking busy. And I’d still like to know who’s bright ass idea it was to put the Mother’s day cards and the grad cards in the SAME FUCKING aisle. Grrr. I was not happy about that. Anyways, spent FAR to much money and got mother some cute flowers. Thought about getting a second one for something else, but decided against it. I wanted to put the last $50 of the money I had into Savings.

Needless to say that by the time Saturday was over, the $50 was down to $30, and I was going to keep that to get grad gifts, now that $30 is down to $3, and it’s going to a card. I guess people will be getting home made gifts for graduation this year. And next month no money over the $400 previously allocated will be spent.

Anyways, after that I went home. Andrew called about 12:30 and said that he was going to shower eat and would be over about 1:30. And he was. We watched “The Wall” very good movie. After it was over we just hung out for a while. Then I mentioned that I wanted to go to the Art Center in DM. It was like 4:30. We drove there and it was definitally closed. Fuckers.

Then this crazy guy tried to kill us, and he had the mini-van in on the plot. So scary. I was whiping my car around like a crazy and yeah, it was scary!

Anyways, since we didn’t have anything to do we called Beak, but she didn’t answer. So we drove downtown. There was a wedding going on, so we hung around that for a while, scaring the breeders. Then off to the library and just walking around. On the way back to the car, I had my arm around Andrew and we were walking and talking and these crazy black girls started up with thier ghetto shit. It was so wierd, then they came over and talked to us. We couldn’t tell if they liked us or hated us. Very odd really.

After that we called Beak like 2 more times and she STILL didn’t answer, so we headed over that way since it was like 6ish. Got to her place about 6:15 and sat out front and called her AGAIN, her car was there, but still no answer. Slut! So then off to the Dollar General where Andrew bought cards and the like. Called Beak yet AGAIN! And she finally answered. It was so funny too cause I was all ghetto and shit. Went over there picked them up and then off to Cheddars.

That was SOOO mcuh fucking fun! Slaming glass, pouring waitress, food, the lumberyard. All too much to remember. We were all laughing so hard. I’m sure that everyone there hated us by the time we left, which btw was 2.5 hours after we arrived. And we left an $18 tip. Crazyness.

Back to Beak’s where we hung out for just a bit and then Andrew and I went off to my house where we watched TV and hung out some more. So much fun!

Sunday was also a really good day! (Oh, this weekend felt like a MONTHS worth of good days!) I got up and went downstairs and was like “Happy Mothers day” blah blah blah. Then she was there for like 10 minutes and then they both (being the pu’s) got up and were like “We’re going to Menards, back in a few hours.” I was like, WTF, I planned on spending most of the day with you. Grrr. Anyways, I called Andrew up and we went off to the Art Center, because they were in fact open this time.

That was so much fun too. And the crazy old guy talked to us, and I just LOVE the art center because it brings out the architect in me. I just LOVE the new addition (Well it’s not really new, just the newer part of the building), I would totaly love to have that as my house!

From there it was back to Andrew’s house where his mom made us help move furniture, so odd. Then to the drag show, where slick performed. VETO! Overall though it was a good show. Then to JJ’s, then to BS (Where we were only going to get pie, but ended up eating food, and thus the last of my money) then back to Andrew’s where we departed ways. I got home about 10:30 last night, so tired! ::yawns::

Check back later for some picture highlights of the weekend. I only hope that the rest of the summer is as fun as this weekend was!

Holding Hands.

Gay boys and teenage girls have this much in common: both take a long time to get ready to go out, and both love going to malls.

In fact, malls have become the convergence point of modern America: brightly lit and often discounted melting pots of commerce, cash machines, and culture.

So imagine my surprise at my local mall recently, in suburban Des Moines, when I saw two 16-year-old boys walking around holding hands. Picking my jaw up off the floor, I looked around for a camera, thinking there must be a movie filming. But there was no camera. This was real life.

I shadowed them for a time, thinking they were, by example, making fun of gay people. But no – as I watched them move in and out of The Gap and Structure, I could tell the handholding was genuine, and I was awestruck at the simple act.

They were not alone, but were part of a group of teenagers, mixed male and female, including at least one obvious heterosexual pairing. They all laughed together, walked around together, made fun of each other, and shared both a common voice and common ground. It was a remarkable and moving sight, and one that I did not expect to see.

Wasn’t it just a few years ago that Matthew Shepard was tied to a fence post? And isn’t this the generation that is making Eminem a vastly popular hate-monger?

So many questions ran though my head: Was this an anomaly? Could it be some extended social science class project? Or have we been Will & Graced enough to break though some of the last barriers that separate the gay community from the straight community? Are incoming High School students now so comfortable being who they are that they will feel no need to politicize themselves for the cause? Is it simpler to “just do it” than to debate it forever?

There were other eyes following my two young men around the mall as well, especially those of older, married couples who did double takes [and in some cases , triple takes] at the sight of two 16-year-olds boys doing no more, or less, then they were doing themselves. I walked slowly and listened to some of the comments. They were not all positive, yet they were not all negative either. Said one sixty-ish woman to her husband, “It’s just like your brother. Let them be happy.”

Some people shook their heads as they walked by, while other stiffened and refused to look at all, but their eyes betrayed them. You could tell then had noticed and were unnerved by the sight. The boys themselves seemed oblivious to the ruckus they were causing by just holding hands, feeding each other ice cream at D.Q., or by holding up a leather jacket to one another to share opinions on it’s style.

I wondered if they faced persecution by anyone at their school, or if they surrounded themselves with this small group of friends who understand and are supportive. How do other boys react? Do their parents know their children are having a profound impact on people who cross their paths? And do these boys know what they may have to face in their future by being so completely honest in the present?

We hear how cool it is to be gay in high school these days, but in fact thiswas the first conclusive evidence I had seen to support that urban legend. Maybe it is true. I hope it is.

I lost the group somewhere near Sam Goody, where a sign announced that MTV was sponsoring a yearlong examination of hate crimes, urging their viewers’ acceptance of other races, religions, and preferences. And it occurred to me as I stood there in the mall, that we are at a pivotal moment in out times when a media outlet aimed at youth had the foresight to promote tolerance, and young people respond with simpler acts of kindness and affection for one another.

Having been around more teenagers in the last year then I had been for a few years had been quite enlightening for me, and in mostly a positive way. For some time I’ve been an advocate of the idea that the current generation of 16-year-olds is set to take a big step toward compassion for all lifestyles. Although we aren’t completely there yet, I’m happy to see that those steps have been taken out of a conceptual stage and into the malls of middle America-possibly. The most unlikely yet brilliant common battlefield of all.

Rain, Trees, More Rain

So this weekened was totally fun! Friday I met up with Andrew about 7ish and we went off to this drumline thing at his HS. SOOO much fun! I LOVE DRUMLINE! That was done about 9ish, and after that we went out to JJ’s and had a great time there. Stupids took forever getting my food though, and they didn’t even give me a free anything, as they did with the people that were sitting next to us. Fuckers! But it was good food. We left there late, and went home.

Saturday I got up about 7ish, showered, and then proceeded to plant 320 trees from 8AM until 4:30PM! OMG, I’m STILL in so much pain! Although last night Andrew massaged my left thigh, and it feels so good right now, but the rest of me is in SO MUCH pain! My legs hurt to stand up or to really use them in any way, it hurts to grip anything, it hurts to lift anything, and my ASS hurts too! ::whines::

Anyways, we planted all 320 fucking trees. I’m sure that if half of them make it to 20 years old, it’ll look pretty damn good, but right now, it’s just painfull. It was so annoying though because Andy was so SLOW! For every hole that he dug, I dug 6. For every tree that he planted, someone else could have planted 3 or 4. I just wanted to kick him in the face!

After we were done with that, I called Andrew and met up with him at his house. I went from there off to eat supper at the Olive Garden, walk in there, and here comes Ben Shepley walking up to me. I was like OMG, so random. Ben and I worked together at Mitigwa back in ’00 and ’01. There’s some other history there too. But anyways, we talked for a while, Andrew thought he was hot, mostly because he IS! Rarrrr at Shepley!

For some reason none of my ctrl-* keys work, and neither do my arrow keys, page up or page down keys. So VERY VERY annoying.

Anyways, the wait at Olive Garden was too long so we went to Mac Grill. We had a HORRIBLE waiter, I think we are cursed, we always get horrible waiters no matter where we go!

After that went back to my house, went hot tubbing, and had a really good time. Andrew didn’t leave until 1:30, and apparently he got in trouble from his mom. It’s like HELLO! If it’s that big of deal, you could have always called him and been like ‘bitch get your ass home!’

Sue’s so wierd!

Sunday we were supposed to have helped Beak move, she called me at like 9ish and woke me up. Told me that we weren’t going to move her because of the rain. So I was like, “That’s fine!” Yay, no more physical labor this weekend! lol

So I got up finally about 10, 10:30 and showered, Andrew called and met me over at my house, we hung out there for a while just talking and then decided to go shopping because I had $80 to spend on clothes! I got 3 gap shirts for $5, a new BROWN belt (So Andrew will stop bitching at me for wearing a black one!), and then 2 more Express Shirts. I got the red one and this other really dark yellow shirt. (Full price for one of them and I got the second for only $.09, totally cheap) I think they’ll be nice!

After that I decided that I didn’t look good enough to be out shopping, so we went to his house and got movies. Then back to my house where we spent the rest of the night on the couch watching movies and the Lucy special. I LOVE LUCY! We departed ways about 10ish.

Now I just got up and I’m waiting to go off to my first final. I’m nervous about it, but it shouldn’t be that bad!

its too hard to think of interesting titles

8:29PM – “its too hard to think of interesting titles” Private

SO this weekend was VERY VERY good, as it usually is.
Saturday we hung out here and workedo n my car, which was fun. I get better gas mileage now! Thanks Topher! See, I really enjoy having him around, b/c he has this vast array of common knowledge that just helps out in so many situations. It’s great that he konws so much shit that I SHOULD know, but of course don’t.
Then we went to VWM, then to B&N, where we met Liz. I think Chris liked her so that’s good! And I’m pretty sure she liked him back. Yay greatness!
Then we went out to the Sports store lol that was so random.
We went to Grays Lake, and that was soooo nice. Sitting there, and he had his arms around me, and I don’t really think the breeders enjoyed us too much. It does kinda ruin the mood when some white trash HOES yell the F word. But whatever I still had a great time with MY Topher, sitting on the dock thingy and taking random pics of my feet and hands with the digital cam.
Good times.
Went to Beckys and taht was fun. I was introduced as “Chris’ boyfriend” which just made me feel really good. Like it was like “YAY I really AM Chris’ boyfriend!!” It still sounds weird to say it.. I dunno, I guess I Just thought it would never happen and now that it has… YAY!
We ate cake there, yum yum. I think we worked it off later though *Wink*
THen we went to Perkins, dinner was on me, and this heinous woman like FORCED me to buy some easter egg thing for some dead kids and I def didn’t want to, then she tried to get me to buy one for Chris, but I said no. And unfortunately it was acutally a pretty good coupon. I should’ve just stole the whole damn basket.
Then we went to my house I think, where I asked mother if I could stay the night and she threw a fit, then said yes, then acted like nothing happened. She’s REALLY been pissing me off lately.
Anywyas, we went to Steph’s bonfire, which was really cool. Kristin told me today how much she likes Chris! “I really don’t know why, I just like him a lot!” So that was good.
Then off to PC to get Chris’ stuff, then off to Ames to spend the night. I was sooooooo tired, since I had worked early that morning.
We got to Ames and decided to put the movie off till the next day and went to bed. Well, of course, that resulted in a bit of fooling around, we both came, and I gave Chris a little head. Hehe. As is my recollection, we were talking or something during it… I believe my quote was “I have never had this long of a convo while I”m trying to give head” or something to that effect. I dunno… Other classic quote: “It’s like a new toy, you have to figure out how it works” ohhhhh k lol.
We went to bed at 2:11 ish. Woke up at 8:28 ish…. WAAAY tired. So my back hurt again that little idiosyncrasy of mine is FUCKING ANNOYING. It totally needs to stop. Anyways, we made out some more lol and did some other stuff and I came again. I wanted to have Chris cum, so that he didn’t feel left out, plus it’s just common courtesy for both people to cum, but he didn’t want to, and I didn’t want to be an annoying bitch and push the matter, so I didn’t. I did lay on him though and let all the cum from my body mesh into his. LOL. I”m not sure how happy he was about that one.
Then we just spent the day up in Ames, it was really nice. We just sat around did lots of random shit, I didn’t even get ready until like 6 in the afternoon. My hair was all fucked and Chris said it was cute, but I don’t really think it was. Yeah so we watched Save the Last Dance and other random TV shows, and laid in bed some more, which is SOOOO nice. I love to lay with him and we always have the weirdest convos and just hold each other and its so fun.
Oh and I can’t believe I forgot to mention!
On Friday I was just sitting quietly at my desk contemplating life, when Brent randomly came up to me with flowers and was like “these are for you” I was totally floored. My face must’ve turned totally red and I had this big goofy grin on my face for the rest of the night. They were from Chris of course, with a note that said “Drew Bear: Let’s drop the almost. Topher” It was soooo totally cute, and I was definitely the envy of the office. Everyone was like “I wish someone would do that for me” etc…
SO yeah, that was one of the sweetest things anyone has ever done! And it was even sweeter when I found out that Chris was all nervous about it and even called to make sure they were delivered. Hehe, he is SOOOO cute!
Anyways so we are official now, as of April 25… it really isn’t much different from before, but I like being official. I have someone to care about me! Yay!
Anyways, drama w/ Adam/Scott/LJ almost ruined the weekend.. But I’m over that now and feeling fine!
So yeah… time to send this on to Chris!
*kisses and bear hugs from the DB*
Current mood: hot
Current music: la woman

320 TREES??

So this weekend has been SOOO great. I’m sure that the neighbors will agree!

Friday was pretty good. Started out very early because I had to get up and get dressed up for an MIS project, also had an early morning meeting. So I did that, got to MIS and all the hot bois in my group were all dressed up in hot boi outfits (IE, Suits!). Rarr, so hot I wanted to eat them there! lol. We gave our presentation, got a 14.5 out of 15 on it. I’ll find out Monday what we missed the .5 points on. Crazyness. After that was over went off to MKT, which was UBER boring. She showed a video and like half the class got up and left. So funny!

(I can’t type right now!!) lol. After MKT went to work. From 11-2 was the LONGEST 4 hours in my life! And then from 2-5:15 was EVEN LONGER! So annoying, but it was well worth it to make someone happy! lol. Anyways, work was work. Like everyone was gone so we all just pretty much sat around the office all day. I did call Tech support for Dell.

So I call into Dell, had to sit on hold for like 30 minutes before even getting to someone. So I get on there and she’s like, “Who am I speaking with”
I go, “Chris.”
“And what’s your Service code?”
So I give it to her…”8-Z-G-5-Z-0-1″
She says, “8-G-G-5-Z-0-1”
“No, 8-Z, as in Zulu, G as in George, 5-Z-0-1” I corrected.
“So that’s 8-Z-G-G-5-Z-0-1”
So by now I’m thinking, “Ok, this is a SIMPLE alpha-numberic code. How can she fuck it up THIS badly, and I mean, the last one wasn’t even the RIGHT length!” So I say, “NO, can I just give you the Express Code.”
“Yeah”
“1-9-5-5-7-7-2-7-3-4-5”
“OK, thanks, what’s the phone number for the company?”
“515-956-369*” (* to protect the innocent)
She gets that wrong a couple times, finally get’s it right.
“Company Address”
I give it to her, she gets it WRONG! By now I was so mad, but I was trying my hardest to be nice. So then she asks for the company name, and I tell her, “Krell Inst”
“Frell What?”
“K-R-E-L-L Institute”
She gets THAT wrong a couple more times… Rarr, so MAD!

So finallly we get to the spot where she asks what the problem was. I tell her, and then she goes…”Can you JUST TELL ME what the problem was??”

Well you get the point, she was STUPID! Finally I was so mad that I just said “Can you transfer me to someone who KNOWS what’s going on.” And the bitch says “Please hold” And then she HANGS UP ON ME! I was sooooo fucking mad!

Anyways, after I vented with that, I just did random little things, etc. Good times. I checked my Amazon.com account to see when my camera was shipping. I get there and it says that it won’t ship tell MAY 9th. I was so pissed. So I cancelled it and then called up some places in DM and found one there. So at 5 I drove down there and got my camera. YAY! I now have my digital camera! So cool!

So after that I was like, I don’t want to drive back to Ames. So I went to my house in PC and spent the night studying cause I didn’t really feel like going out that night cause I was so tired. I eventually went to bed about 11. Andrew called me at 11:30 and woke me up. I was soooooo fuckin’ confused. For some reason I thought that he had gone to prom that night, and it was like 4AM, and he was calling me after-after prom. I was really confused. And apparently I kept telling him that I had just gone to bed, and that he hadn’t waken me. I still don’t even remember what we talked about. lol.

Saturday I got up and did random things around the house tell Andrew called, about 12:30. I left home to go meet him at his house and on the way out, my mom said to me, “Next weekend we’re getting in 320 trees so make sure your home. We have to plant them all.” I was in a hurry so I didn’t ask, it’s nothing odd for them.

So went over to Andrews and we hung out, did lots of random stuff. Ended up at Gray’s lake where we scared the breeders. So funny. From there over to Beak’s where we met some crazy people, Lori and some guy. She had good food so we stole some. She also had some hard lemonade, and I wanted to steal some, but I didn’t. Such good food though! Mmmmm. After that we went to Perkins down the street, everyone there was soooo creepy! The stupid put out meal on one tab, so Andrew just paid for it, so nice of him! The lady kept asking him if he wanted an easter egg, something about supporting some kids of some sort? Anyways, he got one and it had a buy one meal get one half price. So YAY for that! After that crazyness we went to some girls house for a bon-fire. That was TONS of fun, and it reminded me of my days in the BSA. So much fun! lol.

It was getting late, so then Andrew and I left, and decided to go back to Ames to watch movies. We got here and then decided it was too late to do that, and also didn’t feel like driving him home. So he spent the night.

We got up this morning about 8ish, and have been hanging around my apartment all day watching movies and TV, and just hanging out and talking about random shit. So much fun! I fianlly drove him home about 6ish, got to his about 7. Dropped him off and then drove back to PC to talk to the Pu’s some more. Found out that we actually ARE getting 320 trees… Not just an exageration from my mom. I guess that they’re going to try and re-forest a large part of our yard to lower their taxes. My Pu’s are so WEIRD!

Anyways, after that I drove home and now I’m here having a good time updating! YAY!
