Preparing Again

So…. two years ago, I was preparing for the biggest move of my life… Now here I am preparing for another big move, although not near as bad.

The last few days have been stressful and very long. Although, I’ve been getting to bed on time, it just feels like they have been much longer.

Yesterday I went out biking with Rob, and also went shopping for some things I need at the new place. I wanted to buy one of those fun Curver ShowerRods… Who knew they were $40?!? Plus I had to go to three stores before I could even find people selling them!

It was also a LONG day at work. I’m trying to get everything off my old laptop and onto the new one, which is proving to be a pain in the ass. Why does ORACLE never work right the first fucking time! Ugh, I hate this product! I also hate Coldfusion, why are the two things I do more have to use both of those so fucking much! Ugh.

I also hate stupid bitchy drivers… Today I was driving to work, and turning left from MacArthur onto Campus.. The light was red, so I was slowing down to stop. As I’m coming up to it, the light turns green…. I was still slowing a little bit though so that I could make the damn turn… All of a sudden this jackass comes FLYING past me on the left (in the traffic lane for people coming the other way) blaring his horn and flipping me off!… Excuse me bitch!? What the fuck did I do!?!?! I wanted to just bash into him so fucking badly. Jackass.

Dustin is back home this week and seeing all the pictures he’s posting and all the blogs he’s writing makes me want to get my ass home so badly. How I miss thee!

My new MacBook is so fucking cool… When apple came out with the FrontRow application, I thought it was really stupid. But alas, it is so fucking cool! I’m sure it won’t get much use from it since I don’t keep videos, etc on my laptop. But for someone looking to use it as a media center it’s amazing! I also found this fun program called IAlertU. Once you set it with your remote, if anyone tries to move, touch or unplug your laptop it sets off a car alarm like sound and takes a picture with the built in iSight. You can only disarm it with the remote that came with your laptop too… It’s so cool!

Robert hooked me up with this boy in RB, he lives like 2 blocks from my new place… We’ve been writing novels back and forth to each other lately. Sadly, he’s got friends in town till next weekend, but it seems like I’ve already found a potential friend up there! If you’ve seen next with the Ep where the boys go flying, and the Nextor has a dog, well that’s him. The point is, hopefully we’ll be friends! haha.

My Mom’s B-day is coming up soon… I dunno what to do for it.

Well, I’ve already wasted enough time writing this. I have to pack the last of my office up today for it’s transfer to SM tomorrow.

I just don’t want to miss anything! And I feel like I’m forgetting something. I’ve got the Patrol box tacked together, but I found the drill my dad gave me doesn’t work, so I have to go buy one tomorrow to put the rest of the way together. Either way it’s looking really nice. Somehow though the shelves are an inch too short, so I’m going to have to improvise for those. Oh well, all is still good.

Today I had a conf call with GT and SS, I got VERY VERY pissed off during it.. I’ve been working on this project for MONTHS for GT, put in TONS of overtime for him and pushed back other higher priority projects to work on this damn thing for him. I’m like 90% of the way done with it, and this conference call was to hand the project over to SS, because apparently he’s got 2 weeks of FULL TIME work that he can do it. Which means that once he’s back off of it full time, it’s going to go shoved back onto me…

OK, this wouldn’t be a big deal at all.. except for the fact that GT told him to pretty much RE-WRITE EVERYTHING I HAVE DONE IN WHATEVER LANGUAGE HE WANTS TO DO IT IN!!! Which knowing SS is either going to be JAVA or COLDFUSION! Ok, does anyone see the problem yet? A) I’ve spent TONS of time writing this in PHP so that it can easily be picked up by ANYONE. B) I’ve spent tons of time writing this in PHP so that it’s not tied to a specific system or proprietary server (IE, coldfusion which costs TONS of money to maintain). C) He’s going to be basically REDOING all my work in one of two languages that I know VERY LITTLE about, and once it gets passed back to me, I will be expected to maintain, thus taking EVEN MORE OF MY TIME because I will have to learn those languages.

It all just pisses me off so fucking much. It wouldn’t be a big fucking deal if he just said, “OK, hand him your code and he’ll complete what you did” Gah!

Other then that, I worked on the project I talked about earlier, with reporting datamarts. I have to say it came out very spify! I used something called jpgraph, and it looks damn good. Tomorrow I’m going to redo the graphs to be more pretty, but at least it’s working and that’s what matters. 🙂

Austin today told me that he missed me, and that was so cute! I honestly do miss hanging out with him as well and I’m really looking forward to going camping with him this weekend. Not to be mean or anything, I’m kinda hoping that he doesn’t get this job in DC so that we can become better friends, but if he does, I’ll still be happy for him.

I must atract Bakersfield boys though, because today another person from Bakersfield who just moved to the area messaged me on myspace! So random. He’s already got a bf, but he sounds like he would be a cool guy to hang out with. We’ve scheduled some time for next week, but I dunno when that will be. Robert and his boy want to take me out to dinner on Monday for my birthday, Blake is comig on Tuesday, so that leaves sometime after that. And I’m sure Austin will want to hang out in there too!

I’m becoming such a busy boy lately! 😀

Beak sent me the first gedcom file today for our family tree site, everyone go check it out. And since we’re on the topic of Bakersfield, I’ve actually got family there! (Well, people who appear to be direct relatives are dead, but I’m sure they have children, etc who would still live there)

She sent me this tid-bit of information as well: We’re related to half the population of Lenox-don’t date there man-you’d be swimming in your own gene pool. Another interesting thing-apparently when Granny was younger she was in love with on the her Julian cousins-like 3rd or 4th cousin. (the Julian/Juliens are related to use through Granny’s mother Ida). Anyway her parents wouldn’t let them get married because of them being 3rd of 4th cousins so they eventually went on and married other people. Before Granny died though she asked Deb to put a picture of this Julien kid and his obituary in her casket with her.

I think that’s so sad and sweet that she asked for that picture to be put in her coffin with her…

I just got accepted to Google Adsense, so I’m going to add a small Ad to my site to maybe help pay for it. 😀

Sex, Gilmore!

ARG! Can I fucking SCREAM at our Helpdesk guy? He’s telling LIES, LIES I tell you! God, so fucking annoying. You know, if I called and got someone like him at the Helpdesk, I would fucking hang up on his ass. Our software is slow NOT BECAUSE we as SA’s and DBA’s haven’t done our job, there’s MORE then enough power to serve the sort of application that we host. Someone fire him!

Anyways, so yesterday was pretty busy… I had lots of stuff to do in the morning and got that going, then right before lunch I got a huge project that I sorta stole from someone else. It’s going to be exciting, getting Oracle 64bit running on x86_64 Linux. 🙂 So yeah. But as I was going to go talk to someone about it Austin called, so we went off to lunch. It was a nice lunch we went to this mexican place and I had a Cheese thing. I was so stuffed! After that we walked over to Staples cause it was right there and he tried to convert me back to windows and I tried to convert him to apple! I’d have to say so far that’s the only annoying thing about him, is that he’s a windows geek! Gahh! Chris Pirillo comes to mind. That man annoys the hell out of me!

So I got back from lunch and started talking to people about it and got CentOS installed. Also someone else showed up and I had to help them with an RCF file. I finially got out of here at 2:30 and got home and then went on my bike ride. Got home and showered then talked to Austin and invited him over to watch the new gilmore girls, since he had never seen it.

So he went to the gym and then came over and we hung out. Watched an Episode of Sex and the City, which I have to admit is a very funny show. After that we talked for like 20 minutes till GG came on then watched that. It was an OK episode, not the best ever. I think this series is really coming to an end. The whole Luke has a daughter thing is a little out there.

Speaking of though, The West Wing really needs to end. This season has just NOT been that good. I’ve heard that this will be the last season and it will end with the announcement of the new president. So we’ll see.

After that we watched House, which was ok, but I didn’t really enjoy it that much and then we watched another epsidoe of sex and the city, then he gave me a nice back rub, then I kicked him out cause I had to go to bed. It was nice hanging out with him.

Blake says that today is Jimmy’s funeral, or something like that. Seems really quick to me, that they could cremate him and ship him back so fast. But I guess that’s the way it is. Sad as it is. I’m strangely effected by it. I’m not really sure how I can explain it.

Susan e-mailed me again yesterday. It’s nice that she keeps e-mailing me and asking how my life is, but I’m just not too sure about what to say back to her anymore. I haven’t talked to her son in like over a month now, so it just seems wierd.

OMG! Yesterday was a HUGE day for us Apple fans! TWO Intel macs introduced, and some cool new software! I can’t wait! Who wants to buy it for me?

So I did probably one of the most spontaneous things I’ve ever done this weekend. I invited a guy I had never met before out to go hiking out in the palm springs area (Up the tram).

But, anyways. Back to where we last left out…. Anyways, Friday was a boring ass day at work. I had some minor things to do, nothing exciting. Things were going slow at work for some reason, damn network issues or something like that. Not sure, anyways, I got NOTHING done because of that. I left early again so that Iw ouldn’t miss my packages, but they ended up not getting there till 5 anyways. So I did my bike ride and all that anyways. And did some more work at home.

The damn cat just threw up AGAIN! This time that bitch is NOT going to the fucking vet.

Anyways, I hung out with Robert on friday night, we watched this movie called ‘Everyone’. Horrible MOVIE! Though there was one hot boy and one boy we couldn’t decide if he was hot or not. lol. But I couldn’t be brought to turn it off because I wanted to know how it ended! lol.

After the movie we talked for a while and then he left. Saturday I got up and couldn’t bring myself to do my laundry cause I was too lazy. I just wanted to get out. So I went on my bike ride. On the way out though I saw these two women and a bunch of kids in scout uniforms, so I went up to them and introduced myself and got a phone number of a local scout troop that could use some help. So I gotta call that guy.

Did my bike ride and went a lot further back there I usually do, it gets really pretty. Came home and showered and talked to this guy Austin for a while online, then he said he was going to go shower, so I went to best buy because I somehow ended up with two DVD’s of Star Wars I, so I traded one in for a III. 🙂

One the way there and back though I just thought that I had to get out of the OC for a day and get to the country… So I decided to go up to the Mount out by Palm Springs. I had told Austin that I wanted to hang out too, so when I got back I invited him and to my surprise he said he would go!

So I called my aunt and uncle to let them know I’d be in the area and they asked that we stop by when we were done and do dinner with them at the Club, which meant we had to bring some nice clothes.

Austin got here at 1, and we went up to subway, grabbed a quick bit to eat, and then headed out. While we were talking though at Subway we found out that we both know someone from Iowa! It’s very random!

We headed out to Palm Springs and made really good time, got up to the top of the tram and walked around for about 2 hours. Got some great pics, which I’ll hopefully get up on the photodump soon. We had a really good time, he was very nice and we had a lot to talk about. And have a lot of the same ideals about people inthe OC. It was pretty funny.

After that we headed over to my aunt and uncles house and changed then we went to the Club house. Of course you HAVE to have a drink there, so I got an apple martini! Yum yum… And then… Well I had another. lol.

And then.. I had a glass of wine. Needless to say, there was NO way we were driving home that night. So we stayed at thier house. I have to say, I didn’t get shit for sleep last night. 🙁 But it was nice to have someone to lay next to in bed. He also gave me a really nice back rub. 🙂

So we got up this morning, ate breakfast and then drove back to the OC. Hung out here a bit while we downloaded the pics and got them sent to him at his house, and then he went home.

… So, in short, I had a really good weekend and hopefully Austin and I will become some good friends. Time will tell. Seems we might be going camping sometime.

Speaking of which though, I’m not sure if I mentioned this or not, but my on call week was changed from my birthday weekend to the weekend before. So I think I’m going to be going camping the weekend of my birthday. I WAS thinking channel islands, but that seems like too much work for camping by myself, since you have to pack everything in. So now I’m thinknig Anzo.

Yep, and that’s been my weekend!
