Left Lane Drivers Unite!

I was driving home from work the other day and heard a news story about these guys…Left Lane Drivers Unite!. It was great timing too as I was stuck behind a box truck in the far left lane going exactly 65… For you non-Californians, the far left lane typically travels between 75-80 during non-rush hour traffic. So as you can imagine there was a long line of people trying to get around this guy… Would have been a great time to have one of these signs!

Wed night I went out with Brendan and we saw Shrek the third. It was really funny. I enjoyed it a lot. I made him stay till the end to hear the Trevor Hall song. Great stuff. Went home after that and made the mistake of checking my news reader… There were some more cars listed and one was this AMAZING looking 1956 F250! It was love at first sight… Ugh. I blame Charles on this new obsession. If he hadn’t been soooo enthusiastic when I mentioned that one 1961 truck, I would never have stopped to look at it and fallen even more in love with her. I’m going to have to start thinking of names… Just in case I actually do buy one!

I ended up not getting to sleep till nearly midnight after that because I was going over my finances and what not and trying to see if I could afford it. Of course I _can_ afford it. Question is, how badly do I want it. And right now. I wannnnnnt it! ::whines:: I talked to the seller and he actually is a professional restorer and this is out of his personal collection. He says it’s all new engine and transmission. Just needs some interior work and a new bed. Which should be fairly cheap to do (Like $2k maybe).

This morning I checked in with my Insurance company to see how much it would cost to add this truck into my insurance. Only $400 more a year, which isn’t bad at all. So then I went to progressive’s website. You know how they always have the whole “We show you the competitors prices”. Blah blah blah. Well I went all the way through up to the screen where it says “Buy your policy now”. And not ONCE did I see any other competitor pricing? Am I blind and missing something? They always show it as being IN YOUR FACE when they do the commercials. Like there’s this big graph on one of the pages showing it. But alas. I missed it? Did you?

I have to work the early shift tomorrow morning which means that I have to be up at 3:30am! Ok, it’s only 7:30am, I should go and get work done so today goes by fast! Adios!

This morning I was backing out of my parking spot and ripped the right mirror clean off my car. God damnit! I looked at it quick before coming into the office and it looks like I might be able to replace it myself. I’ve called a few NAPA stores here in Cali, but they are all of no help. So I’m trying to hunt down my cousin who works at NAPA in IA.

So remember that whole investment mess from a while back? Well today it continues! I got a letter in the mail saying that duplicate statements are now being sent to some Retirement Strategies company here in Cali! I didn’t authorize this! Time to figure this shit out again!

I’m sure that everyone knows I’m in LOVE with the iPhone… Well I just got around to watching the guided tour that’s been out for like a week or so now.. And I just have to say that I’m creaming my pants right now.

This thing is AMAZING. It does sooo much more then I even imagined it’d do!

There are some points that I wish it would do though.

1) GPS - Probably next gen?

2) Saved locations from Google. I have a ton of saved locations from my Google Maps, I don’t want to have to re-enter them all.

3) Push email. Maybe next gen?

4) IM - Chat. The SMS comes close, but it’d be nice to have AIM/Yahoo chat as well.

5) Full Java support for addon apps

6) Safari plugins. (I have all my bookmarks on del.icio.us, I don’t have ANY local bookmarks. I’d be nice if I could sync those to the iPhone)

But, in all this thing is Absolutely the best phone ever. I just wish that I could buy one this Friday. Fuck you Verizon for having HUGE cancellation fees (Contract End Date: 03/07/08!!! UGH! I can’t wait that long!!!!) Maybe I should look at selling my plan online!?! I have to be able to keep my cell number though!

AT&T also just announced the rate plans. Only $60/month for 450 minutes, unlimited data, unlimited M2M, 5000 evening&weekend minutes, roll-over, and 200 SMS messages?! That’s insane cheap!

I talked to CP again the other day about the whole old car thing. I’ve always wanted one. Infact we have one on the farm that I’ve always wished I could get and fix up. I’m sure it’s going to need WAY more then I could ever do at this point. Anyways, yesterday I went on this crazy mission and found a ton of 58-64 F-100’s here in the LA/OC area. I emailed them all. I’ll probably never do anything about it, but it’s amazing how cheap these cars really are for how old they are. I was expecting them to be much more. But these are all under $10k. It’d make a nice fun truck to drive around and enjoy LA in.

One year ago today was my first date with Jay… Oh memories. lol. Have I mentioned recently how annoyed I am still with Ben? How could he be so fucking childish! UGH!

Yearly Review

WARNING!

My Site was hacked on Sunday at 12:11pm and the compromised continued until 7:00am this morning (6/25/2007) when my hosting provider was able to finally remove the infected code from the site. I realized there was an issue at 8:30pm Sunday night and uploaded some new code which should have stopped the infected code from being executed on my visitors computers. If you visisted the site between 6/24 and 6/25 PLEASE run a virus scanner (Link to free online virus scanner)to be sure you are not infected!!!! So Friday I had my yearly review at the office. Usually something has been going on at this point in the year and I just happened to get a raise anyways. But this year nothing was really going on so I brought it up to the boss. It ended up being pretty good. We got to talk about what happened with the client’s office closing and where things were going. I got some really good feed back as well. In the end I got a 7% raise which is nice. We also talked about the possibility of me moving to London still. Apparently two of the people there want to come back. However, it’s a REALLY long shot. So I’m not going to get my hopes up for it. But I’ll still be hoping it does happen.

Friday night I went out with Nick and Dustin to a concert in Laguna. This guy Trevor Hall. He was very good and oh so hot! You should all go check out some of his music. I bought his album on iTunes this morning. And he’s also in the Shrek The Third movie.

While we were there I tried this really good new desert called spanakopita. It was so good. I’m going to have to make myself some. Left there about 10 and went home. I got home and my neighbor was just getting home as well and we were outside talking for MAYBE 5 minutes, and we weren’t being very loud either when some bitch up stairs came out and said. “Can you keep it down, I’m trying to sleep” all bitchy! UGH! I wish I knew who it was. We think it was one of the girlfriends of the guy upstairs.

Saturday I slept in late and then went to brunch with the neighbor and Erick. There’s a crazy street fair going on here, so we hung out at that for a while as well. Erick and I found these CUTE ass gifts that we each got for the little people in our lives. Keira’s B-day isn’t till August, but I’m going to send it to her this week because you need it for summer! OMG! It’s soo cute, I wish I could tell you all about it! After that Erick and I hit the beach for an hour.

Mac or PC, found this the other day. HILARIOUS!

Sunday I was going to get up at 7 and bike up to Santa Monica to meet Team 100 then ride back to Hermosa for brunch. I went to bed at 9 Saturday night and when 7 rolled around I was just still way too tired. Ugh! I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I’ve been sooooooo tired! So I just lounged around the house for most of the day. That afternoon I drove up to Santa Monica to meet up with Charles Phoenix. We were talking and I mentioned this amazing 1961 Ford F-100 Stepside Shortbed that is for sale at a dealer down the street form me. He got me all excited about it and said that I should really stop and check it out. So on my way home I did They want $20,000 for it! NADA says that the high retail value is about $16k. It would be interesting to see how much they actually get for this truck. It’s not even a very good restoration job either (The seams are not even at ALL, you can see where they just painted over the rust, etc). I found another one on CL that’s only $9,000 but who knows how much work it would need. I would _love_ to have one of these things though!

After CP I met up with this guy Aurthur from the valley. We hung out for like 3 hours. He brought his HUGE dog which has to weight almost as much as he does. That was fun times though.
