Jack And Coke

I always forget how good Jack and Coke is.. Yummy! It warms you up and makes you feel all good inside.

Have you ever noticed how you can get a 2 liter of pop for $1.00 and a 20oz. is $1.19?! WTF?! That makes no sence.

I have a nice fire going tonight. It’s so coozy. I just wish I had someone with a sexy ass to cuddle with infront of the fire. 🙂 I love cuddling infront of the fire at my parents house. Cause both the Living room and Family room have wonderful views of the back yard. And when it’s late at night you can have the fire on and you can sit there infront of it and look out the picture windows on the woods and the snow, and see the bucks out in the back yard fighting.. It’s so amazing! I love nature.

And that brings me to the real point of this post…. I’ve been thinking about Eagle Bound again… I really want to teach it again. But instead of at Camp, I think it’d be really cool to do like a weekend thing. Bring together a bunch of scouts from different troops. (Idealy it’d be 20 scouts, and 5-10 adults, and two facilitators). Break them down into patrols and run it like a Troop. Spend Friday night getting to know everyone and have camp songs and a welcome ceremony and then spend ALL day saturday and the morning of Sunday learning the basics of Scouting. Spend early Saturday afternoon reviewing and stuff then have Eagle Bound Olympics Sunday late afternoon, then pack up and leave by 6pm. I think it would be amazing. Since most crossing over cerimonies happen in the early spring or early fall. You could do it twice a year if there’s enough interest.

But the best time to have it would be Late March or Early May because then you could get all the new scouts and you can get them advanced enough so that they can have a great first year at summer camp earning merit badges and stuff. Because my first year at camp I earned 6 merit badges and I think that was amazing because you can really get a good quick start. But like at Mitigiwa if you wait to do Eagle Bound AT camp you loose the ability to do 2 of those.

So by getting them to do it in the month or two before camp you can get them geared up to go to summer camp and you can get them ready to really learn in the merit badges at camp. IE, if one were to take orienteering at camp, and HADN’T completed that part of the First/Second Class requirements you’d have to teach them EVERYTHING and thus hold back the scouts in Orienteering who HAD learned that. So it benifits everyone.

My one fear though is that if I go back to the scouts and get as involved as I’d like, there’s a better chance of getting “The Letter”. If I keep my distance, I won’t get the letter… Because once I get the letter, it’s all over. I lose all my hopes.

But anyways, I’ve even been sitting here thinking up new games for the Olympics. The ones we had at Mitigwa we’re pretty involved in the setup and operations… So yeah, they wouldn’t work with a limited staff one would have at a weekend get away. At Mitigwa I had 10 staff, plus one assistant director and then ME the director. 😀 There I could also handle up to 80 people doing the Olumics at one time, and up to 40 people in each class. Cleary, at a weekend get away there’d have to be a limit of 20-25 or so, and I would hope that it could become populart enough to put on two – three times a year and maybe even atract people from neighboring councils, and hopefully in time be able to pay a staff.

But speaking of Mitigwa and all this, it’s amazing how many people out there are searching for Mitigwa on Google (23 hits).

The words “Boyfriend application” were my biggest hits though (242).

Some other random searches that are funny:

“Taste of lexus”

“barry road having sex”

“brian presnall” <~ Only funny if you know who this is (ANDREW!) "joel taylor porn" <~ Same note as above "hazemat tents.com" "11 sept. 2001 enya" <~ Random?! "what a night. what a waste of my dad\ s $270." "www.incestdot.com password" <~~ I actually got TWO hits from that one... What the HELL is this site and why would ANYONE go there? I actually got a lot of hits on various "Andy Mcgee" things and a few other people that I know from back home. Kinda makes you wonder who's googling these people!? Other Various Stats: OS Visitors: Windows - 65% Mac - 20% Other - 15% Browsers: IE - 50% Firefox - 11% Safari - 18% And the rest is from about 50 other various browsers, the most random one being: UP.Browser It's also amazing that I even have a Lynx user! Yay! Google sent me a total of 478 unique visitors which was 70% of my seach hits And hello to my Cocos (Keeling) Islands visitor! 80% of people spend between 30seconds and 2minutes viewing my site Ok, that's enough randomness. I just saw this horrible news broadcast about who some neighborhood is trying to get a sex offender kicked out of his house he's lived in for 10 years... OMG people, the guy DID his time, and he's repaid his debt to society, he has EVERY RIGHT to live wherever he wants. God I hate when people do this shit. It's just like the whole smoking things in resturants and public areas. (Well ok, there's arguments against smoking on both sides and the people haven't paid society for thier smoking, but still) Anyways, adios yall!

Back to Civilization!

Well. I’m back in civilization. It was a really fun weekend, but could have been more fun!

I left work at 12:00 and got to bakersfield at 2:30… An hour before Blake got out of class. I took the 405 up there, which was a good idea I think. Blake and Jimmy disagree. Oh well. Everytime I’ve taken the I5 through LA it’s been horribly slow!

Anyways, I got Blake some flowers because he sounded a little down on the phone and jimmy said he was down, so I thought maybe they’d chear him up. I sat next to his car and waited for him to get out of class. He finially got there at 3:40ish and he didn’t even hug me. He was just like, ‘Get in’. I was a little offended that he never even said “Thanks” for the flowers, but whatever, I understand that he wasn’t feeling well so I’ll just attribute it to that. He also didn’t really seem to want to hug/kiss when we were saying good bye. That was sad as well. 🙁 That I can attribute to the fact that bakersfield probably isn’t the most gay friendly place in the world and we were in a fairly public spot. Though, I don’t thin you could really see through his windows… I wish we had had more time though. And I did have fun seeing the town with him. But he refused to take me where he lives. 🙁

Also, Jimmy (Who I think is just a factictious person) was in class, so I didn’t get to see him.

Anyways, after that I drove up to Three Rivers and ate at this mexican place, which gave me the shits. TMI? haha Then I went back to this campground and spent the night there. My car is actually very comfortable to sleep in. I was pretty surprised.

The night though, I had two wet dreams.. Apparently I need to jack off more, or something! haha. I also had a dream about Andrew and Jonathan Taylor Thomas! It was so random and yet pissed me off! The point of that dream was that Andrew’s sister was going ot this big fancy college with like a 4 hour induction ceremony which is insanly boring, so Andrew asked me to go. All Black tie and everything. So we get there and like 15 minutes after we get there, JTT comes up to Andrew and starts hitting on him. They eventually go off and leave me alone with Susan and Her husband. Now don’t get me wrong Susan’s a great person, but Andrew had invited me to this place and then dumped me. So I was pretty pissed. So I was eating these semi-melted chocolate things, and happened to see JTT and Andrew and JTT has his shirt like half unbottoned so I walked up to his and dumped my chocolate things down his shirt and then grabbed a glass of wine from this woman and threw it in his face. It was hilarious!

Enough about my dreams.. I got up about 5:30ish because my alarm clock didn’t go off on time. 🙁 Stupid phone died trying to find a Digital tower… even though I did have Analog signal most of the day up there.

Point is, I sat around my camp site till 6:30 and then went into the park. Spent about 7 hours total there and had a really good time.

a few annoyances though, they need signs! Like I was walking this one trail and it was supposed to go to Eagle Lookout or something like that. Well the trail split like 4 times, and there wasn’t one sign that said, “This way to eagle lookout” I never did find that look out and I walked for nearly an hour, it was supposed to only be half a mile! Also on the roads, there’s signs for things if you’re going one way, but if you’re going the other way there aren’t signs for things! Blah, like I missed Chicago STump which I wanted to see… But luckily I did find the sign for Stump meadow, which was really cool, but it was down this 3 mile dirt road that was just barely big enough for one car!

I also somehow wondered into this Christan camp, which was COOL! I want to go teach there, too bad I’m not a religious freak! lol.

I did see Moro Rock which was really cool it’s only an 1/4 mile hike, but it was up 305 stairs, at 7,000 feet! Which really wears you out. I ran into a big group from IVC there as well and chatted with them for a while.

I had a TON of things I wanted to write about and have been writing down notes all day, but when I was on my way back, I stopped in bakersfield for gas and cleaned out my car and accidentially threw out that sheet! 🙁

I really wish I had like a week or two to hike back into the back country of Sequoia though. It looked really cool back in there.

The drive home was TONS of fun though, I left out the north side of the park and took 245 south… OMG, talk about a FUN DRIVE! Anyways, it took me exactly 2.5 hours to get back from bakersfield again… it’s a 150 mile drive, so 300 miles round drive, 5 hours! I wish I could stay with blake, then I’d go up there more often to see him.

I was sad that I couldn’t see him on the way back too.. He had chemo/radiation today, so he wasn’t up to it. Very sad.

I’ll post pictures on monday when I get to work. sadly there weren’t as many cool ones as I had wanted.

OH! They were doing controlled burns up there today, and I LOVED the smell. It was so great. It reminded me of my days at camp when you could always smell the camp fires.. That smell to me is so relaxing.

There was this one guy though who did NOT agree with it.. He went OFF on one of the park rangers… I wanted to go up and yell at him for yelling at her, because the park rangers don’t schedule that shhit. It’s the fire department that does it! Grrr, stupid people.

But, speaking of going off on people! THE OC has made me really bitchy and I’ve been going off ono people left and right lately. Grrr.

Ok, well I’m tired and should go to bed. night all.

Programming

What to do!

I’ve got three major programming projects to do right now and I’m so torn as to which one to start first.

The first one should be fairly simple, as I’ve already done it once. I just have to copy the information from one project to another project that uses the same stuff (It’s great when projects are just copied that way the logic, code etc is all the same)

The second one is just generating reports. Very boring shit. I already have the MySQL select statement for it (That was another post). But I have to create the output from it now. Again, pretty simple, but boring as hell. I like making the statements and figuring out the hard shit. But when it comes to the easy part of it I just don’t want to do it.

The last one is a personal project. I’ve got three copies right now of my iTunes library. One on my Powerbook, one on my Desktop and one on my iPod. The one on my iPod is the one with all the good playlists and the song counts. The one on my desktop is pretty much empty but I have created a few playlists that I like and the one on my powerbook is brand new and just has like 60 songs that I’ve downloaded recently.

What I want to do is to create a script that would take the play count and the last played information from the powerbook and the ipod and merge that into the library of my desktop (As the desktop is the “main” computer, it’s where all the music is really housed for now. Once I get my Terastation that will all change). The iTunes library is a very straight forward xml file. Here’s an exmample:

So there are three places that I need to update: “Play Count”, “Play Date”, and “Play Date UTC”. These can just be copied from which ever is newer. I can also put in some logic that if they are equal, not to update anything. The real question is how do I determine when to add the play counts together. The first time I do it, everything will just get added. But if I do it subsequent times what determines what should be added to where?

I suppose, I could just reset all play counts on my powerbook and ipod after each merge. That way any new plays would be added to the main computers playcount would be new plays, and not old plays which have already been added in.

Now I’m sure you’re all saying. Why the hell go to all the work to do this? Well because, I have over 7,000 songs. That’s 19+ days of music. Some of these songs haven’t been listened too in over a year simply because they keep getting lost in the suffle. Other songs get listened too all the time, because I know I like them and seek them out. I have a playlist called. “Unplayed Songs”. Whenever I just want background music I put it on this playlist and let it go. That way I have new music playing that I haven’t heard in a while. With adding playcounts together this will ensure that I hear songs I don’t seek out on a semi-equal share of time as songs that I do seek out. (Because of the way this is playlist is set up, the most infrequently played songs are automatically put on it).

Once I get my TeraStation and my PowerMac (Or Mac Mini, depending), this will all make life easier. My iPod hasn’t been updated since I bought it because it has all the good playlists that I like on it. However they were lost sometime when my External HD crashed (What was that, like Nov or something?) But once I get my Desktop Mac, that will become my main computer, and thus make it easier to move my XML playlists between the two (as the PATH will be the same).

I also have the delima of searching for songs. My Powerbook has ~60 songs, my Desktop over 7K and my iPod about 5k. So not every song is going to be in each playlist and they aren’t all going to have the same keys. I thought of seaching on the PATH, but they are different between the Powerbook and the WIndows Desktop, so that won’t work. Which leaves me one option. Double searching on the Artist and Song Name. Very annoying. I’ll have to remember how to search too! Damn Bennett.. Driving search functions into our heads!

I’m really almost tempted to extract all the XML info into a Database and work from there then recreate the XML file… But I’m sure in the long run that will be harder. But who knows really?! I mean, how am I going to write to the file too? I’m going ot have to open at a certian spot and then overwrite at the same spot with different info making sure that nothing is really fucked up. And let’s face it, I’m not THAT good of a programmer.

In other news, my life is boring as you can tell.

Night all.

Feeling Stupid

I’ve been thinking lately, and I’m really starting to wonder if I really choose to go into the right thing… I mean, I enjoy my job and I like computers and I know a lot about them… But sometimes I just feel stupid.

Like this morning, I was trying to find out which routes this damn solaris box had and I couldn’t figure out the command to show the routes… Now in Windows it’s ‘route print’, in linux it’s just ‘route’. In solaris it’s ‘netstat -rn’. Now, I knew it was netstat with some stupid options, but I just didn’t know, and I felt stupid because I had to ask what they were. But there are lots of other littl things like that that I just feel stupid about. And I know that I’ll eventually learn them all but, I just feel like there’s so much that I don’t know yet and I SHOULD know it.

I wish I had a solaris box of my own to play with… Or, I guess I could download solaris now, can’t I? Have I complained recently about how much I HATE solaris anyways? It’s such a POS if you ask me. Sure it’s stable, but Linux will give you the same stability, with a hell of a lot better interface, and such. It’ really bugs me that the same command works differently between linux, solaris, bsd and even under apple…. Gah! Why can’t they just all be the same?

For instance, the route command, works differently for adding a route under all those OSes. It’s really annoying.

Blah. But I just don’t know what I’d do if I weren’t an IT guy.

Anyways…. I haven’t done shit today. I’m still learning VoIP and now I’m playing with netbackup. 🙂 Have I mentioned that I hate Veritas?

lol.

You want to know something else that I hate? Stupid little kids who don’t have to go to school all day any more. Because they have been keeping me up! ALL DAY! They yell and scream right outside my window, and they run all they make a mess all over! I want to just shoot them. I hate children!

I made italian sausage sandwhiches today for dinner… I went to the store and got “Hot” italian sausage… If you ask me, it didn’t taste hot at all. But I can still feel it in my tummy. It tasted good. Just not hot like I wanted it.

Our network here keeps going in and out… Blah! I hate that too, because then I have no one to chat with online.

Umm, and that’s about it.

Goodnight all.
