San Simeon and Hearst Castle

What a weekend!

The group (Me, Constantine, Eric, Mok, Robert, Bill, Nina, Sirin) gathered up Friday afternoon and we headed out to San Simeon State Park. There were some issues getting the truck all loaded up. Mainly we had WAY too much shit to pack into a tiny ass SUV. Thankfully Bill brought a big ass van along! So the two trucks got us and all our shit there and back.

Getting out of town is no easy task on a Friday afternoon. We rolled out of my place at 2:30. We rolled into the camp site a full 7 hours later…. Now you’re probably asking yourself, well how far away is San Simeon? It’s a mere 250 miles. It was a parking lot all the way from here to Santa Barbara basically! Horrible! And of course I was driving and you all know how much I hate traffic!

Once we got there we got everything unloaded and I cooked the Marlboro Man’s Favorite Sandwich for dinner. Everyone seemed to really like it. After that everyone had some drinks. I went to bed, everyone else stayed up and got drunk.

Saturday morning I got up early and started breakfast, cinnamon French toast! It was delicious! After breakfast we all gathered up and headed out to Hearst Castle. That place was just amazing. If you haven’t been there you have to go! I really want to go back now and do the rest of the tours, especially the twilight tour! It’s just crazy that one guy would spend so much money building this huge castle in the middle of no where with so much art and stuff.

From there we headed back to the campsite, ate lunch and then hit up the beach. The beach was SOOOOOOO relaxing. It was just our group there and the boys were playing football and running around on the beach, some of us laid on the beach and tanned and talked and read. We stayed till 4:30 or 5 and then headed back to the camp site.

That night we made Build-Your-Own Chicken for dinner. It was amazing to say the least. 🙂 We also got very very drunk!

Sunday morning I woke up about 7, but laid in bed till 8. Got up and what a MESS there was outside. Damn drunk campers! Constantine and I cleaned that up and then started breakfast and camp tear down. The smell of coffee woke everyone else up and they cooked their baggy eggs. We got camp torn down and then headed home. Traffic YET AGAIN! It took another 6 hours to make the 250 mile trek home. Ugh!

The total came out to $100/person. Which is both cheap and expensive I think. The big factors though were gas at $238 and Hearst Castle which cost $200, food was $200 and the truck rental $125.

Over all the trip was a HUGE success. I am going to try and plan another one for mid-August, although that might be too soon. We’ll see. Perhaps it’ll be a mini-trip.

14,100 Emails!

So today I made the mistake of enabling an email account that I haven’t checked since March 7, 2007.. This was the result:

Fetching 14,100 Emails! OMG!

This account collects emails from 5 or 6 domains that I own. lol. I guess I should start checking it more often

Also, I found this on Confessions of a Pioneer Woman today.. Everyone should learn to drive at 8.

Tons of work to do. Too much in fact. I have to get it done.

Two people down on the camping trip. Anyone wanna go this weekend?!

A week of movies

Wow, it’s been a while! I’m slacking off. No, I’ve actually just been really busy/tired and watching tons of movies!

Ok, so Tuesday night I spent at Nick’s house in Laguna Beach. OMG, I love it there! I wish I could come home to a house every day instead of a freaking apartment. So that night I just crashed there and watchedPresque rien (Come Undone). I really didn’t get this movie much. But the sex scenes and the hot boys in speedo’s was a plus!

[private]Got up for work the next morning and came in. About noon this guy comes over to my desk and gets all bitchy cause I’m not in the training session that was canceled the day before. I’m sorry, but you’ve been here 2 years less then me and are 4 years younger then I am. He has no authority to be talking to me in the manner that he was. Honestly even if it were the CEO of the company talking to me in that manner I’d be pissed. I complained about this guy’s attitude a while back when we had a heated IM convo. And I’m not the only one who has problems with him. Everyone here is sick of him and the way he talks to customers on the phone is completely rude as well. So I’m working on documenting his shit to show to my boss. [/private]

I went home shortly after that and called into the meeting to listen in for the last two hours. Which was a complete waste of time. From there I headed up to The Bridge to watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in iMAX with Constantine. The movie was really great. I enjoyed t.

Thursday I just crashed at home and didn’t do anything besides work. Friday I worked, came home and met up with Constantine again, we went to dinner at Ruby’s and a classic car show. After that we headed to Jason’s place and watched Jesus Camp. What a scary movie! I can’t believe these kids. They are totally brainwashed. But it’s also amazing at how old they sound. Scary stuff.

He spent the night and we got up Saturday and I had to drive to Burbank to meet up with this web designer. She designed porn sites and I had to help her integrate wordpress into one of them.

[private]I honestly think she was one of those people who took one HTML class or something and then felt she was a programmer. She was dumber then SHIT! Ugh! But I made a ton of money off her so that was good.[/private]

Came home after that and met up with Constantine again. We were supposed to go to a BBQ on the beach. I thought it was in Hermosa Beach, but it ended up being in Huntington Beach and I was too tired to drive all the way down there. Plus we kinda feel asleep after he got to my house, so by the time we would have got there it would have been 9 and the beach closes at 10. We ended up just staying at my place and watching Brokeback Mountain. He spent the night again.

Sunday I made us breakfast and went on a quick ride while he slept in. After that we went shopping for camping trip stuff. REI doesn’t have much stuff that I could really need/use so it was hard to find stuff for both of us. After that we hit up Target and bought about $60 worth of stuff. Speaking of camping though. I’m very annoyed that two people have canceled already and others are starting to get bitchy about things.

Constantine and I ended up just napping the rest of the day away. I’m not sure what it was but I was just SOOO tired all day!

In other news, I have two contract jobs in the final phases of agreeing on price and signing contracts and getting ready to start work and one job that’s just starting the bidding process. So I’m excited about that! Yay for money!

Adios!

So today I am working a very very long day. I only have about an hour left, so that’s good. I took a large chunk out of the middle of the day to drive to San Diego and back to check out a 1952 truck. The truck was VERY nice… But there were a few concerns:

1) he says it sat for about 40 years, but they aren’t sure if anything was done to the truck after that, rebuilt engine, etc. The truck sounds good, and rides good, but who knows about the gaskets, etc. I would think after that long they’d have to do something to get it running? (the odometer has 35,000 miles on it, but he’s not sure if it’s rolled over)

2) Between the header and the exhaust pipe you can feel hot air coming out. Probably just a missing gasket. There’s been an electric fan installed, but I think it was put in backwards.

3) Lots of little rubs/etc in the bed paint. You can tell that things had just been thrown in and out of there. But the truck is solid steel.

4) A few little bubble areas in the paint. Not sure if this is rust or what’s going on with it. But overall the paint job looks great! I couldn’t find any over spray or anything.

5) The wiring job for the new radio is pretty messy.

I posted to the Ford Truck Enthusiasts Site for help.

[private]Now, not to bad mouth these guys. Because they are giving me some GREAT info and tons of help and I don’t want to burn bridges this early, but there’s one person who posted something about being able to browse up a level to my other photos and there being “way to much information” there. Well I’m sorry that I didn’t know how to post images to the forum when I first did the post and that now that I _do_ know how I can’t go back and edit the post. Besides, they are the ones who click the “parent directory link” and then go through and look at those pics. I’m not forcing them to view anything. (I have however created an index page so that the directory listing can no longer be viewed). But overall they have been a HUGE help. Especially the guy with the 1951 Ford Panel truck and they have made me even more excited to get a truck![/private]

I had a meeting at 2 back in Irvine and didn’t get out of San Diego till 1 (it’s an 80 mile drive). The guy was just talking to much and I was enjoying chatting with him (old guys are so cool!). We were talking about trucks and raising kids and what not. Anyways, I drove about 85mph all the way back to Irvine. Got here at 2:10, only to find out that my meeting had been canceled at the last minute and moved to tomorrow from 12-4. Which means I’m working 4am-4pm again tomorrow! I’ll have to figure out a way to just do the meeting from home.

The other day I was able to get some time to watch This film is not yet rated.. GREAT movie if you haven’t seen it. I really think that the whole rating system should be open and more pubilc. Having a small group of people decide what is and is not allowed, and having people who have been on the board for so long is just not the right way to do it. Perhaps we should make these people run for office as well! hahah. Yeah right, that’d be a huge mess! But there def should be some way to control who is on there and for how long.

Also, on the long ass drive back from San Diego, I was listening to Dr Laura. You all know how much I love her! Anyways, this caller calls in because her husband has a “porn and masturbation” addiction. Really? Are you fucking kidding me. Dr Laura ultimately suggested that she DIVORCE the guy because his masturbation means that he’s unable to have a relationship with a real person! WHAT?! Are you fucking kidding me? Ok, first off. Was the wife even having sex with the husband or was she using sex as a tool to get what she wants? That would have been my first guess. Now if they WERE having sex and what not. Then maybe the wife needed to talk to him to find out WHY he’s jacking off and watching porn. Is she not doing what he’d like, does he have a fantasy he’d like fulfilled? Do they always do it missionary style and on Friday night?

I really don’t think you can be ADDICTED to porn. It’s a god damn movie! There’s no substance there altering your mind. I think that a guy should be able to watch porn and jack off whenever he damn well pleases, especially if the wife isn’t satisfying his sexual drive. Now if the guy has been going out and cheating, that’s a whole nother story. But PORN is not cheating! Perhaps the wife should watch with.

UGH, what is wrong with this country?
