So I went and saw the sunrise this morning…

It was amazing. Going and watching nature always makes me happy… I got there about 5:00…

And sat there and watched as the sky got brighter and brigther…

As the first hints of sunlight came over the far off mountians, I began to sing the prayer of the Oglala Sioux. As I did the coulds rose up and kissed my feet. I sat there, as if I was on top of the world. I felt like I could walk on the clouds.

I could hear the birds begin to sing, and the earth around me came alive.

I sat there, and marveled in the begining of a new day, a beautiful new day. Which will bring with it so much happiness and so much death.

I let it all out, I let my stresses go, and remembered the days of my time on the Oglala Sioux Reservation and how they loved mother earth… I sat there, and said the prayer again, and wished I could stay there all day, and wished I had someone there to share the beuaty with.

O’ Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the winds, and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me! I am small and weak, I need your strength and wisdom.

Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.

Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.

Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people.

Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.

I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy myself.

Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.

So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.
