STPAUL MAN: hey guy, you are looking good on
cam, how are u doing
BlackC 2004: good, u?
STPAUL MAN: well i'm at work.. so can only be so
good
STPAUL MAN: haha
STPAUL MAN: where are u
BlackC 2004: lol
BlackC 2004: sd
STPAUL MAN: san diego?
BlackC 2004: south dakota
STPAUL MAN: oh
STPAUL MAN: hahah
BlackC 2004: lol
STPAUL MAN: i used to live in St. Paul MN, but
live in Los Angeles now
BlackC 2004: ahh, cool
STPAUL MAN: looks like you are at a college
STPAUL MAN: is that right
BlackC 2004: yep
STPAUL MAN: thats cool
BlackC 2004: it's ok, it's a damn boring college.
STPAUL MAN: well you look cute on cam
BlackC 2004: lol, thanks
STPAUL MAN: what year are u in there
BlackC 2004: freshman
STPAUL MAN: thats cool.. do you know what you
want to study to become
BlackC 2004: I'm in IS now, but i'm thinking bout
changing to CS.
STPAUL MAN: i'm a programmer/analyst for a large
music distribution company in Burbank CA
BlackC 2004: really, cool.
BlackC 2004: and what side of the napster case are
you on?
BlackC 2004: lol
STPAUL MAN: yep.. i love getting free and cheap
CDs
BlackC 2004: lol
STPAUL MAN: well since my company was in the
lawsuit, i have to be on their side
BlackC 2004: well i used to get free and cheap cd's
but then some stupid company had to go and sue
napster.
BlackC 2004: lol
BlackC 2004: lol
STPAUL MAN: plus i just wrote billing programs to
handle charging a small fee for downloaded music
BlackC 2004: great
STPAUL MAN: well we have to keep our artists
happy or they won't be around for us
BlackC 2004: ::major sarcasim:::
STPAUL MAN: haha
STPAUL MAN: actually the downloads are very
inexpensive and you would only have to download
what you want instead of buying a whole CD that you
liked one or two songs off of
BlackC 2004: yeah, like this:
http://blackc2004.virtualave.net/pics/RIAA%20Vs.%
20Napster%20Comic.gif
STPAUL MAN: so its still a good deal
BlackC 2004: yeah, whatever. once it's free, it's
free. there's no charging for it
STPAUL MAN: hahaha
STPAUL MAN: well thats the point.. its not free
STPAUL MAN: and the artists don't want it to be
free
BlackC 2004: it was, and that's the way it'll stay
STPAUL MAN: its what they live on
STPAUL MAN: we shall see
STPAUL MAN: nothing is free in life
BlackC 2004: more like that's what the major coprs
make their billions on
STPAUL MAN: it costs someone
STPAUL MAN: well we make our "billions" on
movies, not music
BlackC 2004: yeah, well you can tell your company
they'll never get me to pay for it and i'll never buy
another cd again
STPAUL MAN: our music divisions make a very
small profit
STPAUL MAN: well thats up to you of course
STPAUL MAN: most people prefer to have the CD
with the artwork and liner notes
STPAUL MAN: but we all have to do what we have
to do
STPAUL MAN: i hope you don't enjoy live concerts
much
BlackC 2004: i couldn't give a damn, musics music. i
have a radio whereever i go
STPAUL MAN: because the tours will stop
BlackC 2004: so
BlackC 2004: letem stop, one less annoying thing to
put up with.
STPAUL MAN: no artists or record labels are going
to pay to tour, which most artists hate doing anyway, if
they are not selling CDs
STPAUL MAN: then i guess you are not a true music
fan if you don't want to see live performances by artists
BlackC 2004: not a true music fan?
STPAUL MAN: the only reason most artists tour is to
sell their new CD
BlackC 2004: music is fucking music, it doesn't
matter weather it's live or on cd, or over the radio
STPAUL MAN: ahhh, but the quality is much
different
BlackC 2004: i couldn't give a damn about the
quility, i just want to hear the music, radio is fine for
me.
STPAUL MAN: play the radio, then listen to the song
on CD on a nice stereo
STPAUL MAN: tell me that you can't hear a
difference
STPAUL MAN: so basically, you just want noise
STPAUL MAN: well thats ok too
BlackC 2004: you're a twat
STPAUL MAN: but not like the excitement of live
performance
STPAUL MAN: now you are calling me names?
BlackC 2004: Slashdot | Denmark Poised to Legalize
Music Sharing
STPAUL MAN: because we disagree?
STPAUL MAN: interesting
STPAUL MAN: you have a good day too
BlackC 2004: you too, bye
