We Laugh
Not because it is funny,
But because it is funny
To feel so happy
We rant and rave,
Not because it is dreadful,
But because it is dreadful
To hurt so badly.
And when we love, at love,
Our bodies communicating
In their own candestine,
Coded way . . .
We sigh -
Not because we are frightened
But because it is frightening
To become each other
For one moment,
And still,
In the instant’s shrieking sharpness,
To remain obliquely outside.
Forever together . . .
And yet,
Together
Alone.
And then.
We kiss,
Not because it is loving,
But because it is loving
That makes us want to.
